Almost 350 volunteers donated over 1000 hours of their time and energy to clean up over 3.3 tons of trash from the neighborhoods of New Bedford!

“A Plastic Ocean” Documentary, 2016, 1h 42m (show times: 3:30PM and 6:00PM)

A feature-length adventure documentary that brings to light the consequences of our global disposable lifestyle. A Plastic Ocean was filmed in 20 locations around the world in beautiful and chilling detail to document the global effects of plastic pollution–and introduce workable technology and policy solutions that can, if implemented in time, change things for the better.

Mary Lou will discuss the impact of plastic pollution locally and the efforts being taken to reduce waste on the South Coast shoreline. Her group of volunteers conduct cleanups monthly to clear away debris which consists mainly of single use plastics. She will suggest simple solutions to reduce plastic waste. Talk approximately 25 minutes, guided tour of the Seaport Art Walk approximately 50 minutes.
